When the Dallas Cowboys were on the clock in the first round of the NFL draft last thursday night, many a Cowboy fan were worried (or maybe hoping) that Jerry Jones may select Johhny Manziel. However Dallas quarterback, Tony Romo had no such worries according to COO Stephen Jones.
Jones was speaking on Mad Dog Sports Radio’s Schein on Sports show via Fansided and said: “Of course, his response, as you might expect from Tony,” Jones said, “was, ‘Well, if you decide to, it ain’t going to matter, there’s no one out there who can beat me out.”
Romo's response, if it is believed, whilst arrogant is also the perfect reaction to such rumors. For a man who has been the starter for the Cowboys the past nine seasons he needs to believe that he will be the man to beat in any quarterback controversy.
Of course that quarterback battle is going to be a lot easier when he is faced with Kyle Orton and Brandon Weeden this summer.
Likewise, I'm sure that Manziel is more pleased to land in Cleveland where he has a realistic chance to start this year unlike in Dallas where he would have been a long shot to learn the Cowboy's offense by September.
Regardless, the two quarterbacks are not scheduled to meet this season unless both teams make it to the Super Bowl in 2015.
