Reports are emerging in Spain that Real Madrid may have lodged a €70million bid for PFA Player of the Year Luis Suarez. According to journalist José Félix Díaz, Real, who may yet sack Carlo Ancelotti this summer, are now drawing up their transfer shortlist, and Suarez is top of the list.
Real president Florentino Perez sat down with his head honchos at the Bernabeu on Tuesday to discuss their summer targets, and after an incredible season for Liverpool, Suarez looks to be the man to replace the outgoing Karim Benzema.
Spanish newspaper, El Confidencial have reported that the figure believed to be Suarez’s contractual buyout clause is true and it would be a huge boost for Madrid. Given the fact the club paid €100 million for the services of Gareth Bale last summer, if they were to try and lure Liverpool’s star man this year, Anfield bosses would have expected a similar fee.
El Confidencial also report that Madrid believe that the Reds striker has an emotional desire to one day play for the club and that after guiding Liverpool into the Champions League, could be convinced into moving to the Spanish capital.
It was originally believed that Sergio Aguero was the man targeted by Madrid chiefs to play the no.9 role at the Bernabeu, however, Manchester City have made it clear that the Argentine is not for sale at any price.
