Real Madrid could be set to deal Manchester United a damning transfer blow this summer, as they are said to be preparing a sneaky swap move to purchase Edinson Cavani.
According to French newspaper Le 10 Sport, citing Spanish publication Sport, Los Blancos remain keen on the acquisition of a top-class forward in the transfer window, and fear that they may miss out on preferred signing Luis Suarez as Liverpool look to play hardball. As such a list of potential reserve options has been drawn up at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Cavani finding himself high on the agenda.
It’s believed that Madrid would be willing to part ways with Arsenal target Karim Benzema as part of the deal to force through a switch for the Uruguayan, despite the fact that the Frenchman has enjoyed a relatively good season in La Liga.
If they were to complete the proposed trade it would most certainly throw a spanner in United’s transfer plans. Louis van Gaal is said to be keen on landing the 27-year-old when he takes over at Old Trafford after the World Cup, but may be forced to turn to other options.
