Manchester United hope that Louis van Gaal can help the club sign Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos, according to Goal.com.
The Red Devils have reportedly been tracking the German international for some time now, with suggestions last month indicating that the club were ready to make a £40 million move for the player's services.
And it now appears that United officials are hoping that Van Gaal's imminent arrival at The Theatre of Dreams will help in their pursuit of the central-midfielder.
Van Gaal, of course, has yet to be named the new boss of Manchester United, but with an announcement regarding his future set to take place in the near future, United chiefs will be focusing on a busy summer of transfer activity.
Kroos will certainly help Manchester United in an area that they've struggled in for some time now. This past season saw the likes of Michael Carrick, Darren Fletcher and Tom Cleverley struggle for form and consistency.
It remains to be seen as to whether Van Gaal and Co. can tempt Kroos to Old Trafford in the up coming market, in what could prove to be a club record signing.
