Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is willing to sell David Luiz to Bayern Munich this summer - the Bundesliga giants have made a €30m bid - but wants to secure the services of Croatia international striker Mario Mandzukic as part of a swap deal.
German newspaper Bild say negotiations are already at an advanced stage and that a deal could be wrapped up imminently. Chelsea have been strongly linked with Mandzukic, who was likely to find himself surplus to requirements at the Allianz Arena following the arrival of Robert Lewandowski from Borussia Dortmund, over recent months - and it seems the 27-year-old could be on his way to Stamford Bridge.
Mourinho is keen to overhaul his forward-line after a disappointing end to the 2013/14 campaign, which failed to yield a single trophy for the Blues. Reports suggest the Portuguese coach is prepared to get rid of Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Romelu Lukaku, while Samuel Eto'o will leave the club this summer after his contract expires.
Chelsea have already struck a £32m deal with Atletico Madrid for the transfer of Brazil-born Spain international Diego Costa, but Mandzukic would be another major coup. The former Wolfsburg striker has scored 33 Bundesliga goals in 54 appearances for the Bavarians, but is not considered a major part of Pep Guardiola's Bayern Munich vision.
Luiz, meanwhile, has been strongly linked with a move to Barcelona - but it's believed the Catalan giants are no longer convinced the Brazil international is the best option to replace Carles Puyol at the Camp Nou.
But the versatile South American defender is likely to accept a move to Bayern Munich knowing his chances at Stamford Bridge will be increasingly limited next season following the arrivals of Nemanja Matic, Kurt Zouma and John Terry's decision to sign a one-year contract extension.
