Liverpool are said to be leading Chelsea and Arsenal in the race to sign the youngster dubbed as the ‘next Steven Gerrard’.
Information in the Express alludes to the fact that the Reds have an edge on their Premier League rivals with regards to the capture of highly-rated youngster Dele Alli, as Brendan Rodgers has a close relationship with MK Dons boss Karl Robinson. Reports yesterday confirmed that Chelsea have now joined Liverpool in the hunt for Alli’s signature, but that may not matter if Rodgers can use his influence to engineer a path for the 18-year-old to move to Anfield.
Described as the ‘next Steven Gerrard’, supporters of the Reds will be hoping that Alli opts for them rather than buying into Jose Mourinho’s vision of a future at Stamford Bridge, and Rodgers’ positive movements so far - he has scouted the starlet - should give them confidence.
With the transfer window looming large, and Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea all vying to make important improvements to their current squads, it will be interesting to see which one of them can coax Alli into switching allegiances this summer.
