Hero Cat to throw out opening pitch at minor league game

A Bakersfield cat which saved a young child from a vicious dog attack recently is to be rewarded in a very special way. According to TMZ, Tara the cat, who became a viral sensation, will be throwing out the first pitch at the Bakersfield Blaze on May 20th.

Tara's owner, a small boy named Jeremy was playing on a bicycle on his driveway when a large dog approached him from behind and attacked him. However, the small cat came to Jeremy's aid and successfully chased the dog away.

The video of the incident has become a viral sensation and you can check it out above (warning: it does include violent pictures). 

It is not clear how the first pitch will be performed but this heroic cat has certainly earned her moment of fame.

The Blaze are a Class A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds and currently play in the California league.
