Big things have been expected of future WWE 2K games ever since Take-Two Interactive bought the rights to all future WWE video games when THQ filed for bankruptcy and started to dissolve.
WWE 2K14 was the first to be released as an official 2K Sports game once Take-Two Interactive gained the rights from THQ and Visual Concepts worked alongside Yuke's to develop the game.
Yuke's developed the WWE video games for 15 years but rumours suggest that Visual Concepts will be developing the game alone, suggesting a complete overhaul of the series and this is leaving the fans excited as the NBA 2K series are some of the most popular sports game available on consoles.
The next instalment has now reportedly been delayed until March of 2015, this is so that it can coincide with the WrestleMania season which will result in more fans purchasing the game - rather than the traditional October or November release. The delay gives fans more time to talk about what they want to see in the game, and we're no different.
A lot more is expected of the WWE games, now that Take-Two Interactive have taken over, plus with the games now set to be released on the next-gen consoles, it shouldn't disappoint. Here is what we want to see in the next game.
Focus on a mix of the past and the future
In recent WWE games we have been treated to countless legends where we can relive the old WrestleMania events and even The Attitude Era, but now that we've played as the likes Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior, there is only so much they can do before including so many legends becomes stale.
That doesn't mean take the legends out completely, that of course will never happen but rather than dedicating valuable roster slots to one legend with five different attires, they should focus on including a dedicated NXT roster. The fans that don't really watch NXT will be confused when a superstar makes his main roster debut on TV, such as Adam Rose not going over more than he should have and surprisingly - fans only becoming aware of The Shield and The Wyatt Family once they appeared on Raw - when they actually made an impact on NXT beforehand.
Even if they don't watch NXT they will be able to get a feel of what each NXT superstar is like in the game, playing as NXT stars such as Sami Zayn, Tyler Breeze and Adrian Neville will still gives fans an understanding of just what the future holds in the WWE.
Improve The Universe Mode
The WWE Universe mode was a great new mode to play when it was released, however not many improvements were made to it which made the fans want to buy it. Especially when you compare it to the GM mode of the older 'SmackDown vs. Raw' series where the GM mode was possibly the most popular game mode in all of the WWE video games.
The Universe mode probably won't be taken out, but desperate improvements are needed so they should try to merge the GM mode into the Universe mode. This means the player should still be able to act like the General Manager, having a budget to pay for stipulations, the mode is better and more competitive for two players and allows both brands to have a fair roster; both trying to battle each other, keeping the superstars and fans happy in the hope of becoming the General Manager of the year.
The last time the WWE tried to merge the General Manager mode was in SmackDown vs. Raw 2008 - WWE 24/7 mode and that failed. Let's hope under 2K more improvements can be made to to include the popular General Manager mode.
One thing which irritates the majority of fans is that just after the rosters are released online - a new superstar or superstars make their debut on television and they just miss out on making the cut in the video game. Such as The Shield and The Wyatt Family. Fans then either have to create the character themselves of try to find a good created version online, but it's never really satisfying than the original.
NBA 2K is a series where fans are treated to almost weekly updates, whether it is a move in free agency, new attires etc. The updates are made so the content remains fresh and the same should be done for WWE 2K15, the more latest updates are released, the happier the fans stay and we wouldn't have to wait a whole year or wait for a DLC to play as our desired superstars.
The commentary has been a big issue for WWE fans as they feel it is too generic, sometimes the commentators mention something a lot later than when something actually happens and we usually hear the same lines a number of times in the same match. The current real-life commentators in Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler and now JBL need to record some new lines, with a lot more emotion to make it feel a lot more realistic and dedicating commentary to different superstars; hearing the same line twice should only be a rare occurrence.
In the last two games we've been treated to The Attitude Era mode and most recently the 30 Years of WrestleMania mode, there is one big era left which should be made playable and that is the WCW era. Having this mode will allow fans to play as their favourite WCW superstars, play in their stipulations such as War Games and imagine the excitement playing through the Invasion storyline.
This is a possibility, as rumours suggest Goldberg will be a Hall of Fame inductee in 2015 and the video game will be released around the same time, he could have a big part to play in this.
Fans should vote for the cover
Usually superstars that are over are picked to appear on the cover, such as CM Punk on WWE '13 and The Rock on WWE 2K14, but this time the fans should be able to vote on who they want to see on the cover. It doesn't have to be limited to one, like on NBA covers we have seen the likes of Derrick Rose, Kevin Durant and Blake Griffin appear on the same cover and the same could be done for the next WWE video game.
But it remains obvious that Daniel Bryan and John Cena would grace the cover if the fans voted, but somebody like Goldberg or even Sting would be something that the fans welcome.
This is something which has been rumoured to appear, MyCareer mode is an extremely popular mode in the NBA 2K series and fans will be in for a treat if it is included in the WWE 2K15 game. A created superstars starts at the bottom of NXT and works his way up the rankings in NXT, before doing the same on the main roster in his way to becoming champion; let's hope the developers go through with this mode.
Along with these, we should see better mechanics which is a given, better entrances and fan interaction, a better-looking audience and a more interactive backstage area along with more stipulations, such as the Buried Alive stipulation.
