Alberto Moreno wanted by Liverpool & Chelsea

Liverpool will have to beat off competition from both Chelsea and Real Madrid if they are to sign Sevilla's Alberto Moreno, according to the Daily Mail.

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers is expected to make a move for the Spaniard after highlighting the left-back area as a major weakness in his side.

The Northern Irishman was forced into playing the right-footed Jon Flanagan at left-back during the majority of the season due to a lack of viable options.

Rodgers' only orthodox left-back options - in Jose Enrique and Aly Cissokho - failed to cement a place in Liverpool's starting line-up during the campaign due to a lack of form and fitness.

Liverpool will have to pay around £15million for Moreno if they are to land one of their top targets - but may be embroiled in a bidding war with fellow Premier League outfit Chelsea and La Liga giants Real Madrid.

Chelsea are on the lookout for a new left-back as Ashley Cole looks set to leave Stamford Bridge on a free transfer in the summer - while there remains doubts over the future of Real Madrid left-back Fabio Coentrao.
