Former NFL top safety Darren Sharper has escaped charges of sexual assault in Florida after a four-month investigation, according to reports.
The ex-New Orleans Saints star faces rape charges in both Arizona and California. He has been jailed in Los Angeles, while he also has a warrant for his arrest in Louisiana and an investigation in Nevada is pending.
Sharper won the Super Bowl with the Saints, but now he could serve serious time for the crimes he's alleged to have committed.
He has pleaded not guilty to all of the accusations that have been thrown his way. After turning himself into the authorities in February, Sharper has been locked up in downtown LA. His next court appearance is understood to have been scheduled for today.
Sharper played for the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints during a 14-season career.
The five-time Pro Bowler intercepted 63 passes in his career, and he also tied for second all-time in interceptions returned for touchdowns with 11, according to stats.
