Real Madrid continue to be linked with a summer transfer window approach for Luis Suarez, but the Liverpool striker has, once again, expressed his affection for his current employers, along with a desire to remain at Anfield.
Suarez scored 31 goals as Liverpool narrowly missed out on the Premier League title, and his wonderful campaign has revived talk of a proposed transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu. Real Madrid, it is claimed, are prepared to pay €70 million in order to capture his signature.
Liverpool, though, have the relative security of having tied Suarez to a long-term contract that he signed during the campaign, and the Uruguay international says he has no reason to think about leaving.
“I signed a contract because I love it here and I am so happy here,” Suarez stated, as reported by The Sun.
“If you are not happy here you do not sign a new contract.”
Suarez attempted to force a transfer away from Liverpool last summer following a formal approach from Arsenal but, a year on, and the 27-year-old is content with life on Merseyside. Although his goals did not propel Liverpool to the title, he was able to fire them into the Champions League - precisely where he wants to be.
