5. Large amounts of seven game series

Across both the NHL and NBA play-offs there have been a lot of series that have gone the distance.

Six series in the NHL have been decided in a final game situation with perhaps the most surprising being the second round 4-3 series win by the Montreal Canadiens as they overcame the odds and beat the Easts #1 seed the Boston Bruins.

There will be at least seven series going the distance before the Stanley Cup semi-finals as the LA Kings and Anaheim Ducks face off on Friday night in game seven of their series.

In the NBA, there have been five series go the distance which have provided some very memorable moments.

Very surprisingly, both series which pitted the top seeded team against the eighth seeded team went the whole distance as the San Antonio Spurs overcame the Dallas Mavericks and the Indiana Pacers scraped by the Atlanta Hawks.

The high number of series that have gone to game seven have made sure that fans have got their moneys worth and for those of us who support teams not in the play-offs, they have certainly made it exciting.
