3. The heart of St Louis

Football News

When Martin St Louis' mother tragically passed away mid way through the New York Rangers series with the Pittsburgh Penguins, the whole hockey world stopped.

Yes, there were many games being played and yes there was a lot on the line but players from all around the league took the time to support the St Louis family.

A video even emerged of Penguins legend Sidney Crosby consoling St Louis before a game just after it happened.

It has since been confirmed that the entire team of the New York Rangers will be attending his mothers funeral after game one of their upcoming series against the Montreal Canadiens.

This tragedy makes a list of surprises because going into the play-offs not many people could have seen nor would anyone of wished for something like that to happen.

The death of St Louis's mother has united hockey and proved, in the midst of the biggest part of the season, that there are more important things than sport in this world.
