Tottenham Hotspur are set for another transitional season next year and another squad overhaul this summer with the imminent arrival of a new manager. However, there are a number of players who must leave the club regardless of who the next man is.
It may not come as a surprise that the first name who should exit the club is Heurelho Gomes, who has been an outcast for many years and should have been sold a long time ago. Other players such as Bongani Khumalo and Yago Falque - who were signed on little money and have never been given a chance - must also go.
England international Jake Livermore - who has had a successful loan spell at Hull and reportedly wants to stay there - does not seem to have a future at Spurs. He is too far down the pecking order at the club with an abundance of central midfielders such as Sandro, Moussa Dembele, Nabil Bentaleb and Paulinho ahead of him in the pecking order.
Spurs' defence has come under severe criticism this year with a total of 51 goals conceded and many injuries and inadequate cover. Kyle Naughton - who is cover for right-back Kyle Walker - Michael Dawson - who now lacks the pace - and Younes Kaboul - who is prone to injury - have all under performed massively this season. Left-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto has also had a poor season on loan to QPR and has to go. Spurs need new defenders in all areas this summer.
Many of Spurs' summer signings have come in for criticism this year, but players such as Erik Lamela and Roberto Soldado haven't been given a fair chance and have the potential to shine next season.
However, one summer signing - Nacer Chadli - does not seem to have the attributes necessary to succeed in the Premier League. As a left winger, he doesn't seem to have shown the pace of players such as Aaron Lennon and when playing as a number 10, he hasn't shown the same level of creativity as Christian Eriksen.
He doesn't seem to have a place in the team. A new left winger must be signed as Gareth Bale has never been replaced since he moved from the left wing position and subsequently the club.
Spurs are set for another squad overhaul this summer with players such as Livermore, Falque, Gomes all surely set to leave, no matter who is appointed.
