Friday Night SmackDown emanates from the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina; where John Cena takes on a member of The Wyatt Family in the main event.
The event, which is taped on Tuesday nights and aired every Friday, sees two dark matches taking place before the main show kicks off. Although the fans at home aren't able to watch the dark matches as they are solely for the entertainment of the fans in attendance.
Adam Rose makes his in-ring debut as he picks up a win over El Local via a DDT; which was then followed up by a victory for the number one contender to the NXT Championship Tyson Kidd; where he defeated the talented Sami Zayn.
Friday Night SmackDown then kicks off where we are reminded of Daniel Bryan's surprising announcement that he will need neck surgery, and the state of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship will be decided next week on Monday Night Raw.
John Cena started the proceedings to a big reaction from the crowd, possibly the loudest on the night as he reminded the fans the challenge Bray Wyatt issued on Monday Night Raw. As per usual, John Cena tried to humour the crowd and lighten the situation by aiming some not-so-funny jokes towards Bray Wyatt before he finally accepted Bray's challenge to a match at Payback.
But Cena has a challenge of his own tonight, he challenges any member of The Wyatt Family to a match tonight. Bray Wyatt then appears on the titan-tron as he hyped up their bout at Payback and told Cena to continue making jokes and called him a 'funny man' - it's a good job Bray Wyatt is somebody than turn a feud serious again when Cena at times makes light of a serious situation - nevertheless Bray then thanked John Cena for helping him find the cure before singing off in the usual creepy fashion.
We then see another Bo Dallas vignette - and he will be making his debut next week on SmackDown.
The Usos defeat Cody Rhodes and Goldust; The Usos received a great reaction from the crowd although the start of the match was quite slow but towards the end it did pick up the pace. Once more Cody teased a heel turn after he complained about the loss to JBL on commentary, before leaving the ring without Goldust.
El Torite defeats Heath Slater; yes you read that right El Torito did in fact beat Heath Slater in a comedy match, after some miscommunication between Heath Slater and Hornswoggle, only for Torito to capitalise and pick up the victory, the crowd were into the match - especially the younger audience.
We then recap to the events which occurred on Monday Night Raw; where The Shield told Evolution to believe in them, before rushing to their limousine backstage and attacking them. Evolution were in the ring later on and discussed how they will rip apart each member of The Shield, but before Triple H could finish there was another ambush from The Shield.
Batista then let his frustrations out and challenged the big dog of The Shield; Roman Reigns. In the main event it finished a no contest as another brawl broke out, before the entire locker room attacked The Shield, only for The Hounds of Justice to clear the entire ring with steel chairs as The Shield stood tall.
Back on SmackDown, Nikki Bella defeats Natalya; Eva Marie was the special referee in this match and she received a good reaction from the crowd, although her role wasn't anything major. Nikki Bella managed to pick up the victory over Natalya through a roll up up. Natalya argued with Eva Marie after the match, and the match itself wasn't exactly a masterpiece.
Backstage, Dolph Ziggler talks to Renee Young about how Batista's return failed, and he failed to evolve. He called Batista the weak link of Evolution before heading off to take on The Animal, next.
Dolph Ziggler defeats Batista; not so fast as it was only a disqualification victory after Batista blatantly hit a low blow on Ziggler to get himself disqualified from the match. Batista hit a Batista Bomb on Ziggler inside the ring before leaving. He then returned to the ring and hit another Batista Bomb on Ziggler as the referee's tended to him - the fans cheered for The Shield but still no sign of them appearing.
Sheamus is in the ring ready to take on Titus O'Neil, Titus comes into the ring and praises Sheamus as being a tough guy and referring to him as the new United States Champion. He then plays down the achievement as he didn't pin anyone. He then went on to make borderline-racist jokes about Sheamus before eating a massive Brogue Kick; Sheamus defeats Titus O'Neil.
Santino Marella defeats Damien Sandow; Sandow issues an open challenge to anyone on the roster and out came Santino alongside Emma. Sandow continued to refer to his actions on the Monday Night Raw pre-show where he told some home truths before his microphone was cut off.
In less than a minute Santino defeated Sandow, before Sandow laughed and grabbed a microphone, telling the fans he is a good soldier and the fans like it when he loses. He continues to talk about what's on his mind before his microphone is cut again.
R-Truth came out rapping to the ring as Paul Heyman followed shortly, hyping up Cesaro and the fact that his client Brock Lesnar conquered The Undertaker's WrestleMania streak. It was a short match and as expected; Cesaro defeats R-Truth.
It's time for the main event and John Cena is out, waiting to see which member of The Wyatt Family he will be taking on. The Wyatt Family then arrive as they surround Cena, but Cena is one step ahead as the music of The Usos's hit and the fans show a great reaction, they get into the ring and Bray Wyatt selected Erick Rowan to face John Cena. John Cena defeats Erick Rowan after a couple of interrupted by Luke Harper, Bray Wyatt tried to interfere but The Usos stopped him, Cena hit the Attitude Adjustment for the victory.
