Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva has revealed that there has been no contact made between his representatives and Italian side Inter Milan, according to Sky Sports.
Reports broke last week suggesting that Inter were interested in signing the ever-present Liverpool midfielder, but he has moved quickly to dismiss those claims, stating that no contact has been made whatsoever.
The Brazilian midfielder was just one of nine players mentioned on a potential departures list from Anfield as Brendan Rodgers eyes drastic changes ahead of next season after just falling short of the Premier League title. Despite featuring regularly for Rodgers this season, Lucas is still reportedly on the list to leave the club and, according to reports, Inter is the favourite to sign him.
With the growth of Jordan Henderson this season and Adam Lallana linked with a summer switch to Anfield, Lucas' first-team chances may be limited next season and that could see him leave the club, ending his seven-year stay on Merseyside.
Injuries have been a big problem for the 27-year-old throughout his career and after suffering a horrid ligament injury, the Brazilian has never quite returned to his best form after missing nine-months of his career.
Despite knowing that his first-team space could be in jeopardy next season, Lucas reveals that he is not desperate to leave the club, and has also confirmed that no formal bids have been made and no talks have been held.
"I can say that at the moment I have received no offers.
"Liverpool have never contacted me regarding this possibility (moving to Inter).
"So I can't say there is a chance of me going to Inter because I am under contract at Liverpool.
"Serie A definitely is a great league though."
