Persiraja forward Akli Fairuz has tragically died from an injury sustained after a tackle received in a domestic match against PSAP Sigli.

As reported by The Daily Mail, Fairuz - who was attempting to get through on goal at the time of the incident - was on the end of a heavy challenge from PSAP Sigli's goalkeeper in the penalty area.

The challenge was met with an understandably furious reaction from Fairuz's teammates with the player having to be substituted as a result.

Sadly, although he seemed able to remain at the ground following the tackle, he was later admitted to hospital and it has been reported that he passed away six days after the game from internal injuries.
