Former UFC Lightweight title contender Gray Maynard will make his anticipated return to the Octagon against Fabricio Camoes, according to reports, with the fight scheduled to take place on August 2, at UFC 176.
Maynard, 11-3-1, hasn't fought inside the Octagon since November, where he was finished by Nate Diaz via first round TKO in their trilogy fight. Previous to that he was also beaten in similar ways, as TJ Grant TKO'd 'The Bully' to a first round stoppage.
As for the Brazilian Camoes, he has had a tough time lately too. Camoes has lost his last two against Jim Miller and Melvin Guillard. The UFC aren't cutting him any slack again, as they gave him a former title contender in what could be his last bout in the UFC.
This really is a bit of a mix match. Maynard is eighth within the UFC rankings whereas Camoes is not even in the top fifteen. On paper, Maynard should win this with relative ease. The Brazilian is just 1-3-1 in the UFC with his only victory coming over Tommy Hayden. His performances against Guillard and Miller clearly highlight he can't hang with the better opposition.
UFC 176 will be headlined by a UFC Featherweight Title fight between Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes.
