The WWE were left red-faced on last night’s edition of Raw, after Stephanie McMahon was virtually drowned out by fans chanting the name of CM Punk as she tried to deliver a message.
Reports in the U.S claim that the organisation were left with the task of editing coverage from Monday Night Raw, as supporters got so loud that McMahon couldn’t properly be heard. It’s thought that the WWE edited the background noise so that it was far less audible, but that hasn’t stopped the media from getting hold of what actually happened.
The timing of things could not have been any worse for WWE, in a week where they announced sharp falls in their stocks. As if Vince McMahon didn’t have enough on his plate, it would seem that the ghost of CM Punk is far from done haunting him.
Though the 35-year-old, who famously left the company a few months ago, has apparently moved on from professional wrestling, his legacy very much remains, and the fans are clamouring to see him return.
