Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has revealed that he doesn't expect to be at the club next season.
The former United central midfielder - who took up a coaching role at the club for the final four games of last season - has insisted that he's not expecting a phone call from Louis van Gaal anytime soon.
Van Gaal, of course, took the managerial role at Old Trafford this past week and has already handed Ryan Giggs the role of his assistant.
Scholes could yet stay on at Manchester United, but the man himself doesn't expect it to happen.
Writing a blog for Paddypower, Scholes said: I’ve not spoken to Edward Woodward. I came back for Ryan Giggs for the last few games to try to help out but I’m not waiting for a phone call and don’t expect to be at Old Trafford next season.
With or without Scholes, Manchester United fans will be desperate for a successful season as they enter yet another new era.
After falling out of the Champions League last term, getting back into Europe's elite competition will surely be a priority for Van Gaal and Co.
