Bruno Xavier has lived up to his billing as the finest Beach Soccer player in the world, after the Brazilian scored a quite brilliant goal against Germany in Worldwide Riviera Maya Cup. It’s even being billed as the best the sport has ever seen.
Xavier, the winner of the Golden Ball at last year’s Beach Soccer World Cup thanks to his 10 strikes in the tournament, is something of a specialist at scoring unfathomable goals, but this one was a sensational feat of control, creativity and improvisation, even by his incredibly high standards.
The Corinthians player was able to lift the ball over three Germany players, including the goalkeeper, and place it into the back of the net without it even having touched the ground. Mind-boggling stuff, and so good that there are calls for the goal to be nominated for FIFA’s Puskas award.
Not a bad way to get everyone in the mood for some Samba flair in Brazil this summer. Over to you, Neymar…
