Chelsea have stepped up in their pursuit of Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic, amid fears over Diego Costa's fitness.
As reported by The Daily Star, the Blues now look set to make a move for the want-away Bundesliga star in the up coming market.
Reports had previously suggested that Chelsea were ready to snap up Atletico Madrid hit-man Diego Costa for around £32 million. However, the Brazilian born Spanish striker has struggled with injury of late, and is set to further risk his fitness by taking part in this weekend's Champions League final.
And seemingly Croatian forward - Mandzukic - could be the ideal alternative to Costa for Mourinho.
Mandzukic looks almost certain to leave the Allianz Arena this summer, after falling out with boss Pep Guardiola. Chelsea are certainly in need of a new striker, after the likes of Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Co. struggled for consistency last season.
Chelsea could still bring Costa to the club this summer, but Mandzukic - who has also been linked with a move to Manchester United and Arsenal - could be the man to take the Blues forward in the 2014/15 campaign.
