What makes a truly stunning hairdo? Well in the case of this list, they must have set trends, cemented legacies and turned heads.

Whilst the hair sitting atop a great player doesn't hurt, this is a rare occasion where athletic ability doesn't factor into the argument. Who has the best haircut in the history of football?

There are many candidates, reflected ably in the various trends of the times in which they played, but only five follicle fashionistas stand worthy of inclusion here.

Arguably, it should be the players' hairdressers that merit the plaudits for the bountiful barnets on display, but it undoubtedly takes the right person to carry off any design.

They say clothes maketh the man, but in the case of these players, all that matters is what's happening from the neck up.
