WWE is targeting SummerSlam as a target release date for the WWE Network in the UK according to sources. The network was launched earlier this year for the USA but now is nearing a potential release in the UK according to WrestleZone.
Justin LaBar of WrestleZone.com reports that: "The technical issues have mostly been worked out and the Network is performing at a high enough level as seen with the WrestleMania stream. This coupled with the fact that WWE business recently took a sizable hit on Wall Street, WWE wants to pick up the pace on getting the Network available internationally to boost revenue."
WWE Network launched in February to mostly positive reviews, however ambitious subscription targets were not reached and the company took a huge hit in share prices last week in relation to another TV deal.
SmackDown and RAW shows have been held at venues throughout the UK over the past week and clearly Vince McMahon is attempting to zero in on a very receptive audience across the Atlantic.
It's not clear at this time what exactly the price of the network will be when it launches in the UK or even if it will indeed be launched in time for SummerSlam.
However the cost in the US is currently at $9.99 per month. SummerSlam is scheduled for August 17th and will likely take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
