Patrick Peterson is playing a dangerous game by calling out the 'king of trash talk' in Richard Sherman, but if there is anyone who has the game to pull off something as daring as this, it's Peterson.
The story involves arguably two of the best cornerbacks in today's NFL and you can bet they both believe that they are the top of the totem pole when it comes to their position.
Richard Sherman was recently rewarded with a lucrative contract extension from the Super Bowl- winning Seattle Seahawks and this made Peterson very happy, not for Sherman however, but for himself.
Peterson had a few selective words for the news about Sherman's $57.4 million contract, firstly he believes he deserves to be paid more than what Sherman makes and that he doesn't believe the Sea-hawk is a lockdown corner.
Peterson recently told Arizona Sports 98.7 FM: "“You put Sherman in our system, I don’t believe he would last, obviously, his job is much easier than mine.”
When asked to further explain, Peterson replied: "“If you look at their scheme and you look at our scheme, he’s a Cover-3 corner, period A lot of guys say he’s a shutdown corner, but if you look at film and guys who understand the game, go back and look at film and see how his defense is."
Controversial comments from the pro-bowl corner but Peterson has proved to be one of the games top defensive backs and the comments may be a ploy to earn himself that big pay day that Sherman has seen.
Either way Sherman will likely respond in his usual manner, with meticulous elocution.
If there is anyone who is used to a public 'war of words' its Sherman and off his big contract extension, he'll be feeling pretty good about himself and will likely tell Peterson that.
