Caroline Wozniacki has finally spoke of her pain after her split with Fiancee Rory McIlroy, the golfer cancelled their wedding days after the invitations were sent out.

The Danish tennis player took to her official twitter account to express her emotions about the situation: "It's a hard time for me right now. Thanks for all the sweet messages!"

The 23-year old confessed her unhappiness at the split from the professional golfer and even spoke of how being a Liverpool football club supporter will help her at this present time: "Happy I support Liverpool right now because I know I'll never walk alone”

McIlroy issued a statement on Wednesday to speak about the end of his relationship with Wozniacki: "There is no right way to end a relationship that has been so important to two people. The problem is mine."

He continued by saying: "The wedding invitations made me realise that I wasn't ready for all that marriage entails. I wish Caroline all the happiness she deserves and thank her for the great times we've had.”

The 25-year old is currently competing in the PGA Championship and despite the troublesome period in his personal life, the Northern Irishman produced an opening round score of 68 at Wentworth, a score that even surprised himself.
