Ever since Chelsea sold the brilliant Juan Mata to rivals Manchester United in January, the Blues have lacked a player who can player the killer pass.
Oscar is the man who has played in the number ten role for Jose Mourinho's team this season but in recent months, he has lost his way and is probably quite far off the standard of Mata to create the goals for the Chelsea team.
If Chelsea had had a player who could unlock defences in the home matches against Sunderland and Norwich, they would have been crowned Premier league champions, not Manchester City.
With Diego Costa expected to join this summer, the Blues will have the striker they have also missed this season in their team to fire them to domestic and European glory.
But they will need a player like Juan Mata, Manchester City's David Silva or Arsenal's Mesut Ozil who can expertly thread the passes through to set up Costa and returning striker Romelu Lukaku next season.
One player who has become available in the transfer market is Bayern Munich's Mario Gotze, who has recently expressed his unhappiness at his lack of first team action this season.
The German international only signed for European giants Bayern last summer from rivals Borussia Dortmund but could leave the club if he does not become a regular in the near future.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho reportedly tried to sign the playmaker a couple of years ago when he was the manager of Real Madrid and could be tempted in to bringing him to Stamford Bridge this summer.
He has been dubbed the new Andres Iniesta for his super passing and his special dribbling but unlike Iniesta, Gotze has an eye for goal himself as well as creating them.
Last season, he netted 12 goals from midfield before netting 13 this season.
He is only 22 in June so his goals and assists will only get better as well as his overall game. He is certainly good enough to be in the Chelsea team for the next ten years.
With Gotze and Diego Costa in their side, Chelsea will be major contenders for both the Premier league and the Champions league next season so they must splash the can this summer.
