Thomas Muller is ready to reject the chance to join Louis van Gaal at Manchester United and stay with Bayern Munich, reports the Guardian.

Van Gaal placed Muller near the top of a long list of targets after being confirmed as Manchester United's new manager, but is set to be disappointed.

Not only are Bayern Munich reluctant to sell their attacking midfielder, but Muller is also reluctant to leave the Allianz Arena, making Manchester United's reported interest as futile as it gets.

Muller's rejection of Van Gaal's interest will be a big disappointment for the Dutchman, who had hoped to take advantage of his close relationship with the 24-year-old and convince him to join him at Old Trafford.

The imminent rejection from Muller is the third disappointment for Van Gaal this week, who has also seen Kevin Strootman and Toni Kroos reject interest from Manchester United.

Kroos has publically stated that he never considered joining Manchester United while Strootman reportedly told Van Gaal that he would not leave AS Roma to join him at Manchester United.

That is three significant transfer blows in three days for Van Gaal, who is trying to juggle commitments with the Netherlands national squad as well as helping Manchester United in the transfer window.

So far, it seems things aren't going his way as the effects of no longer being a Champions League takes its toll on the Old Trafford outfit.
