The UFC is set to return to Japan in September 2014, some eighteen months since it's last event their revealed by Tokyo Sports.
Japan has a rich MMA history, with PRIDE being the main factor in why the sport is so popular there. It is likely that the event will attract both Japanese stars such as Yoishihiro Akiyama, former PRIDE Lightweight Champion Takanori Gomi and Hatsu Hioki along with former PRIDE veterans.
The event will take place again in the 37,000 seated Saitama Super Arena in Saitama. That has been the venue for the two previous UFC events.
The Octagon first appeared in Japan in February 2012 in which Benson Henderson defeated Frankie Edgar to capture the Lightweight title. Then in March 2013, UFC on Fuel 8 marked one of the greatest fighters ever in the UFC. Former PRIDE Middleweight Champion Wanderlei Silva brawled with Brian Stann for just under two rounds and saw Silva finish the fight via Ko to the delight of the crowd.
It is rumored that former PRIDE fighter Mark Hunt is keen to fight on the card. He has fought there on numerous occasions competing both in MMA and Kickboxing. Hunt has stated he would like to meet Roy Nelson.
