The Cleveland Cavaliers managed to get the first pick in the NBA draft again and the obvious player top use it on would be former Kansas star Joel Embiid, an imposing big man who has been compared to previous stars like Hakeem Olajuwon.

But teams have serious concerns about the talented Cameroonian's back, and the Cavaliers won't be wanting to take a gamble on the number one pick after the disastrous selection of Anthony Bennett last year.

But according to Bill Simmons of Grantland, the 7-footer's back looks completely fine in practice.

“Embiid’s back is fine. I watched him work out last week," Simmons said. "He moves around as effortlessly as a 7-foot Serge Ibaka; he’s such an athletic freak that he’s one of those ‘still going up as he’s finishing the dunk’ guys; his freakish wingspan might make Jay Bilas pass out … And again — his back seemed totally fine.”

I don't think Simmons is a doctor, but the man knows his basketball and he also knows various higher ups and influential people in the world of the NBA, so we can safely take his judgement that Embiid's back looks good, in the short term at least.
