Baltimore Ravens running-back Ray Rice spent Friday apologizing for a his role in a casino incident in February that caused him to get arrested.

He and his wife addressed the media Friday for the first time since he allegedly struck her in a lift at a casino in New Jersey.

The press conference was supposed to be an opportunity for the couple to apologize and move forward, but instead the quotes that came out can be easily twisted to sound hugely ridiculous.

Rice choose the worst choice of words ever as follows.

"Sometimes in life, you will get knocked down. Failure is not getting knocked down. It's not getting up."

These comments were actually about himself, but it's easy to see how they will be taken out of contest as the internet eats them up.

Not only did Rice make some terrible mistakes, he also gave a little bit of relationship advice to boot.

"Throughout this time, we really had a time to reflect on each other," he added.

"No relationship is perfect, but me and Janay together, when counselling is done for us, we want the world to see that it did help us out."

Oh dear Ray really? "No relationship is perfect." Best to lay off the relationship advice when you're alleged of hitting your own wife Ray.

It's understood that the Ravens tailback may get off receiving any charges for the incident. Rice is set to be accepted into an intervention program after a pre-trial agreement, and it's said that this would lead to a dismissal of any aggravated assault charges if he completes it.
