Montreal Canadiens Forward Brandon Prust has been suspended for two games for interference with New York Rangers Forward Derek Stephen.

The incident happened during game three of the Canadiens and Rangers play-off series when the scores were tied 0-0.

With just 2:45 gone since the puck was dropped in the game, Prust made the illegal block which was heavily discussed on Twitter moments after.

Prior to Friday's announcement regarding Prust, it had been confirmed that the victim of the hit, Stephen had in fact broken his jaw in the clash.

Stephen did in fact return to the game following an X-ray returning negative for a fracture, upon further treatment on Friday a fracture was revealed.

Montreal ran out 3-2 winners at the end of game three and gave themselves a lifeline in the Eastern Conference finals.

New York now leads the series 2-1 after winning the first two games and getting themselves into a fantastic position to progress through to the Stanley Cup Finals.
