Louis van Gaal still wants to sign Luke Shaw

Manchester United's move for Southampton starlet Luke Shaw is still on, according to The Daily Star.

The Red Devils want to land the England international, despite left-back Patrice Evra signing a one-year contract extension with the club last night.

It appears that Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal wants Shaw and Evra – who could be handed the Red Devils captaincy – to go head-to-head for the full-back position next season.

Shaw, who is just 18-years-old, has been the subject of interest from Manchester United for some time now, and it remains to be seen as to whether the Red Devils can bring him to the club in the up coming market.

Both Shaw and Evra will take part in this summer's World Cup for England and France respectively, and Van Gaal will be hoping to have them both on board for the 2014/15 campaign.

It looks set to be a busy summer for Manchester United, as they look to reclaim their place amongst Europe's elite teams next season.
