Chelsea are ready to make a surprise move for Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas this summer, according to The Metro.

The Blues boss is keen on bringing a world class midfielder to Stamford Bridge in the up coming market, and it appears that Fabregas has been identified as a top target.

It has been reported that Jose Mourinho is ready to make a move for the superstar this summer, but won't spend any more than £25 million when trying to land the Spanish international.

Chelsea, however, may have to battle their Premier League rivals for the player's signature, with both Manchester United and Arsenal having been linked with a move for the Barcelona man in recent time.

It looks set to be a busy summer at Stamford Bridge, with the club expected to bring Brazilian born striker Diego Costa to the club for around £32m. The battle to land Fabregas, however, just appears to be starting, and Chelsea are the latest team to enter the race.
