Chelsea are ready to let go of one of their prized possessions this summer with David Luiz set to join Paris Saint-Germain for a whooping fee of £50million, according to Sky Sports

David Luiz will become the most expensive defender in the world with PSG close to winning the race to sign the talented centre-back ahead of Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

The Ligue 1 giants opened talks with Chelsea on Thursday afternoon and although final details of the deal are yet to be sorted, it is believed that a principal fee has been agreed upon by the clubs.

The 27-year-old will become the sixth Brazilian recruit of Laurent Blanc’s side with Thiago Silva,Marquinhos,Alex ,Maxwell and Lucas Moura all in their roster.

The massive deal will beat the previous transfer record by an English club set by Rio Ferdinand when he joined Manchester United from Leeds for £30million.

Jose Mourinho will be happy to sell as he targets some big name striker signings this summer and keeping in mind the Financial Fair Play regulations, they have to raise money from sales.

Mourinho played Luiz both in defence as well as a defensive midfielder, but with Nemanja Matic joining in January and settling to London life with ease and with 19-year-old Kurt Zouma in Chelsea colours from next season, David Luiz will definitely be surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are eyeing moves for Atletico Madrid duo Diego Costa and full-back Filipe Luis and are also monitoring the situation of Croatian goal-machine,Mario Mandzukic at Bayern Munich.

Paris Saint-Germain believe that no other club will be in the running with the fee they are ready to offer Chelsea to secure Luiz’s services.

The stylish defender is a crowd favourite at Chelsea and many fans will be disappointed at his departure, but it would benefit The Blues in acquiring some big money players if this deal goes through.

With three successful trophy winning seasons at Chelsea, which included the Champions League and the Europa League, Luiz will look back at his time at Chelsea as a great learning experience which resulted in his overall development as a player.
