A UFC doctor was responsible for one of the more cringe-inducing moments in UFC history as he stood on a fighter's broken ankle.

The cringe inducing moment was caught by an eagle-eyed viewer who quickly uploaded the footage to social media site Instagram.

The video shows UFC fighter Jamie Varner being sat down on a stool, when the doctor kneels down next to him, accidentally stepping on the fighters foot - leading to a yell of pain from Varner.

Varner seemingly broke his foot one minute into his fight against James Krause and the former WEC Lightweight champion battled on bravely for FOUR minutes until the end of the round, where he just slumped on the floor telling the referee and doctors it was over for him.

Varner tried his hardest to get something going with his punches but given the extent of his injury, it's surprising he was able to stand for periods as long as he did.

Slow-motion replays of when he suffered injury and his subsequent falls due to the injury were met with many groans from those in attendance.
