Summer blockbuster Edge of Tomorrow, due for release in the UK on May 30, features Tom Cruise as Major William Cage, a soldier who is doomed to the purgatory of repeated defeat in battle without the help of Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski.

Vrataski's character, played by Emily Blunt, intervenes to help Cage after the inexperienced commander is killer early in a ferocious battle against alien forces, only to find himself in a time loop forced to repeat the same enormous challenge continuously.

Cage's fighting skills improve considerably under the guidance of Vrataski, which serves as the perfect inspiration for GiveMeSport to profile five fantastic females who coached in the male-dominated world of sport and helped their charges make gains worthy of their craft.

Click ahead to find five women who have waged war on opponents to deliver success for their students, much like Cage desperately needs Blunt's ballsy special forces supremo to do in an upcoming cinema spectacular.
