The second NXT special is only a couple of days away and Takeover will see three championships being defended on the night.
The Ascension will defend their NXT Tag Team Champions as Adrian Neville will also make the defence of his NXT Championship.
Whilst the NXT Women's Championship tournament will culminate with Natalya taking on Charlotte for the vacant championship; the niece of Bret Hart and the daughter of Ric Flair defeated the likes of Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss to reach this stage.
The event will also crown a new number one contender for the NXT Championship. A number of surprise guests are expected to turn up, such as Paul Heyman and potentially other WWE Hall of Famers. NXT is continuing to grow in popularity and we fans continue to demand more from the talented athletes, and hopefully Takeover will provide just that and lead into the potential third event.
With a lot on the line this Thursday; here are my predictions for what will occur at NXT: Takeover.
Adam Rose vs. Camacho
Adam Rose is returning to NXT after a less-than-impressive first couple of weeks on the main roster. I still believe he will come good but perhaps going back down to the roots is the best way to go for Rose. He has proven himself time and time again on NXT; whether it be as Adam Rose or Leo Kruger, he can work.
He already has a rivalry with Camacho so the match itself could be good due to the chemistry between the two; but the down side to that is Camacho is not so good in the ring. Nevertheless the WWE heavily pushed the debut of Adam Rose and making him lose would do them no favours; I am going with an Adam Rose victory.
Prediction: Adam Rose
NXT Tag Team Championship: The Ascension © vs. El Local and Kalisto
The team of El Local and Kalisto are the latest team to challenge The Ascension for the Tag Team Championship and the high-fliers will surely entertain the crowd at Full Sail University. This match is possibly one of two matches which is the most difficult to call, only because it looks so obvious that The Ascension will win; that the company will pull out with a surprise and have Kalisto and El Local win.
That wouldn’t be so bad, as this would pave the way for The Ascension to make their main roster debut but at the same time The Ascension carry the tag team division in NXT. I still believe The Ascension will retain; I just think it’s too early to put the gold on Kalisto who is still working on creating his fan base as Kalisto for the audience that don’t remember him as Samuray del Sol.
Prediction: Still NXT Tag Team Champions; The Ascension
Vacant NXT Women’s Championship: Natalya vs. Charlotte
The tournament finally comes to an end and it comes down to the veteran Natalya and Charlotte; who defeated Alexa Bliss in the previous round. This match could potentially see Ric Flair in his daughter’s corner and that is what gives away the result more than anything. Firstly, Natalya is seen as a veteran in the diva’s division and the likes of Paige have risen up the rankings and become champion, there is no way the WWE would take Natalya down a level – one of the better workers in the ring – and have her compete as the NXT Women’s Champion. Then again, with WWE focusing so much on Total Divas, you cannot rule anything out.
The fact that Ric Flair could be in Charlotte’s corner just shows that this will allow Charlotte to finally become the number one diva in NXT and her Dad will be there for that occasion, it will finally take Charlotte up a level and cement her place as the best diva on the roster, performing with Natalya will make her look very good.
Prediction: New NXT Women’s Champion, Charlotte
#1 Contenders Match for the NXT Championship: Tyler Breeze vs. Sami Zayn
This is the other match which is difficult to call, both men were involved the in the triple threat match which say Tyson Kidd crowned as the number one contender and now that Kidd is competing for the gold, it’s time to see who the new contender will be. Either man can win this match, Tyler Breeze has certainly grown on fans with his gimmick and his impressive work inside the ring and we all know what Sami Zayn is capable of, one of the best in the business.
It’s really difficult calling a winner down the middle but I believe Sami Zayn will take this match, it’s about time he mounted a serious challenge to the NXT Championship and he will prove to be a worthy contender and put on a great match regardless of who walks out of Takeover with the gold.
Prediction: New #1 contender for the NXT Championship; Sami Zayn
NXT Championship: Adrian Neville © vs. Tyson Kidd
Tyson Kidd is one of the most underrated superstars in the company and although he deserves to be competing week in and week out on Monday Night Raw; seeing him at NXT is better than nothing, it’s certainly a step up from seeing his odd appearance in Total Divas. Nevertheless you can expect this to be the best match on the night, Sami Zayn vs. Tyler Breeze will be fantastic as well, but these two men have the styles that complement each other so well.
Tyson Kidd will make Adrian Neville look even better than he already is, Neville will pick up the impressive victory and based on my predictions; he will go on to compete in an amazing feud with Sami Zayn.
Prediction: Still NXT Champion; Adrian Neville
