Barcelona may have to offer Cristian Tello on loan to Real Sociedad in their attempts to sign goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, according to Football Espana.
The Catalan club have linked with Bravo, as they step in their attempts to recruit another goalkeeper and see the 31-year-old stopper as ideal.
Barcelona have already recruited Marc-Andre ter Stegen as a replacement for long-serving number one Victor Valdes. But with back-up Jose Pinto out of contract, the Catalan club are in need of cover.
The Chilean has a €30 million release clause, but he is unlikely to command such a fee. Barcelona may look to save money by exchanging one of the many players they are looking to offload.
After a promising start to his Barcelona, Tello has featured less and less and fallen behind Pedro, Alexis Sanchez and Neymar. The Spanish international has only made two starts this season with the rest of his appearances coming from the bench.
The young Spaniard is surplus to requirements, and likely to fall further behind returning loanee Gerard Deulofeu.
Real Sociedad are smart to ask for Tello. They may be in need of wingers if either Antoine Griezmann or Carlos Vela leave the club this summer. Both have had stellar seasons, scoring 41 goals between them in 2013/14.
Both have been linked with Arsenal in the summer, with the Gunners able to purchase the latter for a mere £3 million as part of a buy-back clause. It has even been suggested that Arsene Wenger would sell this clause in order to get a discount on Griezmann.
It has also been suggested that Tello would prefer to stay in Spain, despite receiving a great deal of interest from Premier League clubs.
Whether or not Bravo would be interested in a move is questionable. Bravo has been at Real Sociedad for the majority of his career, making 229 league appearances in eight seasons in La Liga. He has been their undisputed number one keeper.
Barcelona’s biggest challenge will be convincing Bravo, who will be going to the World Cup this summer with Chile, to play second fiddle to ter Stegen.
Academy goalkeeper Jordi Masip has been promoted to the first team, in the anticipation that he would be the back-up goalkeeper. But with players such as Valdes, Pinto and Carles Puyol on the way out of the club, Luis Enrique is looking for a player with experience and leadership qualities.
