Westbrook scored 40 points and contributed significantly in every other area of the game to lift the Thunder to a 105-92 victory.
As a matter of fact Westbrook was so impressive that he equalled a stat-line that has not been seen in the playoff since Michael Jordan.
Westbrook's 40 points, 10 assists, five rebounds and five blocks were on a level with Jordan's 44 points, 10 assists seven rebounds and five steals from 1989.
ESPN's official twitter account confirmed the OKC point guard's remarkable score line:"MJ has company. Last night, R. Westbrook joined His Airness as the only other player with 40 Pts, 10 Ast, 5 Reb, 5 Stl in a playoff game."
Westbrook's outburst is perhaps a little surprising considering that he is widely thought to be the second-best player on that team after MVP Kevin Durant. However the guard has shown with this breakout performance on the biggest stage that he can be a player to be relied on in the postseason.
Sure, Westbrook may not be capable of these fantastic performances every night as Michael Jordan was but once in a while may be enough to bring home an NBA Championship this summer.
