Arsenal are preparing a move for Manchester City goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon, according to The Metro.

The Romanian 'keeper, who runs out of contract at The Etihad next month, has already turned down an offer from The Citizens.

Pantilimon struggled for opportunities at City last season, despite replacing Joe Hart as the club's No.1 for a short period throughout the campaign.

He looks set to depart Manchester in the near future, and now it appears that Arsenal are ready to pounce on the out of contract star in the coming weeks.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger appears ready to make a move for the goalkeeper, with Lukasz Fabianski set to depart the club.

On loan player Emiliano Viviano is also set to depart The Emirates, meaning the goalkeeping position has become a crucial area of recruitment for the Arsenal chief.

It remains to be seen as to whether Arsenal step up their interest in the City man in the coming weeks, however Pantilimon could now stay in the Premier League for the 2014/15 campaign.
