Ford said:"They think Exum and Carter-Williams could play together in the backcourt, although it would not be a very good shooting tandem. I think the more obvious fit comes if they trade Carter-Williams, an idea I’m told they have bounced around."
Trading away the reigning rookie of the year does seem like a strange move for a team to make, especially at the expense of drafting an international rookie with no experience of playing within the United States.
However, it does make sense to create a balanced backcourt for the 76ers after a dismal campaign in 2014. Exum and Carter-Williams seem to be similar players and Philly have a lot of roster building options open to them.
The 76ers have the third and 10th overall picks in the draft and should be able to pick up two decent starters with those picks.
Whether the Sixers can find a suitable offer for Carter-Williams or not, this offseason is a vital one for the immediate future of this team.
