Every year in the World Cup, a side come from nowhere to reach a round that nobody expected was possible.

In 2002, nobody who had bought tickets to the third-place play-off would have expected to watch Turkey beat South Korea, but that is what ended up happening after a run of shock results.

And in the 2010 edition in South Africa, few would have honestly predicted a semi-final exit for Uruguay, or for Ghana to have been the width of the crossbar away from reaching the semis at their expense.
