The agent of Atletico Madrid midfielder and Manchester United transfer target Arda Turan appears to have moved to refute suggestions that his client could be in talks over a potential transfer to England.
Reports citing quotes from Ahmet Bulut yesterday seemed to confirm that the Turkish international had received an offer from an unnamed English club, with Manchester United strongly linked with a switch for the player and Chelsea also credited with a summer interest.
However, Bulut has been quick to rubbish such suggestions, insisting that he did not talk to anyone and that those claims were false.
"There are several reports in the Europan press through we've made contact with English clubs,” he said in an interview that was quoted by Goal.
"These are not true. I didn't speak with anybody and we're not in talks with any English club. Also it's wrong time to talk about a transfer.”
Just because Turan is not currently in talks with a club from the Premier League, that does not necessarily mean that such negotiations can't happen during the next transfer window, of course.
Turan performed impressively at the Vicente Calderon last season under the gaze of charismatic Atletico boss Diego Simeone, with Los Rojiblancos having won their first La Liga title since 1996.
With the status of many of Atletico's top players having subsequently become the subject to intense transfer speculation since their Champions League final defeat to rivals Real Madrid last weekend, it is not difficult to see how Turan could improve the respective squads of both Manchester United and Chelsea.
With Manchester United appearing to have lost their way somewhat during the painful reign of David Moyes, new manager Louis van Gaal will be looking to significantly boost his options this summer and 27-year-old could prove a popular addition.
Chelsea fans, meanwhile, have seen Turan's ability and eye for goal first-hand, with the former Galatasaray star having scored Atletico's third goal during their victory at Stamford Bridge last month.
