With Queens Park Rangers being promoted to the Premier League no less than seven days ago, they are already on the hunt for star signings in order to avoid relegation.
On their agenda are the ageing duo of Rio Ferdinand and Frank Lampard both of whom have contracts that expire in the summer. These two players would be excellent additions to Queens Park Ranger's squad providing over two decades of invaluable Premier League experience which would greatly improve their chances of survival.
However with Rangers already having an excessive wage bill (more than the Champions League finalists Atletico Madrid) they would need to convince Ferdinand and Lampard to have a serious wage cut due to them earning well over 100,000 pounds at their previous clubs.
However there are positives for the players involved, joining Queens Park Rangers would almost certainly guarantee them in the starting XI allowing them to continue playing well into their late 30's, which would be at the forefront of their mind at this moment in time.
If these deals do occur it will mean that Frank Lampard will be reunited with old boss Harry Redknapp which would be an incentive for him to play at Loftus Road.
These signings would be a clear demonstration that Queens Park Rangers are prepared to spend to stay in the Premier League, even though there squad was so much better in the championship compared to others they still only managed 4th place, so major signings, like these ones, are needed in order to prolong their stay in the Premier League.
