Liverpool are leading the race to sign Serbian striker Lazar Markovic, according to Portuguese newspaper ABola.
Markovic, who is just 20-years-old, played a key role for Benfica last season, and has attracted interest from some of the Premier League's elite clubs in recent time.
As well as Liverpool, it also appears that Chelsea are interested in the star's signature, however it appears that Brendan Rodgers is leading the race to sign him this summer.
The youngster would certainly add quality to Liverpool's attacking line as he can play as a striker or as a winger.
He may well prove a fine fit for Brendan Rodgers' philosophy at Anfield as the Reds look to further progress in the 2014/15 campaign season.
Liverpool, much like Chelsea, will take part in next season's Champions League competition, and will be desperate to increase their attacking options.
It remains to be seen as to whether Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will step up his interest in the forward as he looks to stop Liverpool getting their hands on the youngster.
