There is a rumour doing the rounds regarding an eagerly-awaited return to the ring for CM Punk. But don’t get too excited, WWE fans, because Punk may not be returning to the company where he established himself as a star, but is supposedly in line to join Ring of Honor.

CM Punk has not been seen in action since going AWOL after the Royal Rumble in January, and there has been no official explanation as to why the longest reigning WWE champion of the modern era decided to quit.

His departure has allowed Daniel Bryan to ascend to the position as the undoubted champ of the people, but will CM Punk ever return to regain his crown? Well, perhaps not. According to WhatCulture, Punk could finally end his association with WWE when his contract expires next month and become a notable acquisition for Ring of Honor.

The reasons for the link with Ring of Honor are as follows: the company will host its first major PPV event on June 22, around the time CM Punk will become a free agent. Ring of Honor’s event will also be called ‘Best in the World’ which, of course, was a catchphrase of CM Punk during his time with WWE.

There are, of course, also claims that Punk and AJ Lee will marry in the coming weeks, and it could be that this formality is completed by the time the PPV comes along. Let’s wait and see on this one.
