Striker scores strange penalty in AFC Challenge Cup shootout

A Maldivian striker scored possibly the strangest penalty of all time in his country's shootout victory over Afghanistan in the AFC Challenge Cup yesterday.

The two teams played out a 1-1 draw during normal time of their 3rd place play-off, meaning the game was to be decided from the penalty spot.

When it came round to Assad 'Adey' Ali's chance to convert from the spot, the forward completely bamboozled the opposing goalkeeper - and pretty much everyone else watching -  by falling flat on his face during his run up.

However rather than hope for a large hole to open up in the ground for him to fall into he got back to his feet almost immediately and placed the ball into the net.

Maldives went on to win the shootout 8-7, but the replay suggests Adey may have even tripped on purpose to disarm the goalkeeper - what do you think?
