After ruling out a move for Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, Real Madrid have set their sights on Liverpool's star player Luis Suarez.
According to the Daily Express, this year's Champions League winners will want to build on their success this season by adding to their big-name signings. Suarez could be the best signing to add to their ranks, considering the stellar season he's had.
Florentino Perez might have a hard time convincing Suarez to make the switch from Premier League to La Liga, however. The striker is reportedly very happy in Merseyside and is on a £200,000-a-week deal.
Still, Real Madrid will be confident going into negotiations after successfully bringing Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo, two of the world's most expensive players, to the Santiago Bernabeu.
If the Spanish giants do put in an offer for Suarez, it will most likely be after the World Cup ends. Sources say a bid is imminent because of the former Atletico Madrid player Aguero refusing to move to Real Madrid.
Though Liverpool have not said anything about Suarez's release clause, it is said to be around £70 million. For the Spanish club that just won the Champions League, that amount could be no deterrent at all.
It will be with bated breath that Liverpool fans await the end of this transfer window.
