Valencia are reported to be closing in on a deal to bring Thorgan Hazard to the club from Chelsea during the summer transfer window. Hazard, who spent the season on loan with Zulte Waregem, has also been linked with Liverpool and Everton.
Hazard performed to distinction during his time with Zulte Waregem - scoring 16 goals and providing 20 assists to earn himself the Belgian league’s player of the season award. Chelsea must now decide if the 21-year-old will return to the club, be loaned out again or moved on permanently.
The most likely would appear to be the latter, with Chelsea boasting numerous high class players in attacking positions - most notably Hazard’s older brother, Eden. According to the Daily Express, Valencia have been pursuing a deal for Hazard and are set to capture his signature ahead of Liverpool and Everton.
Liverpool, though, are reported to have with Chelsea over the proposed acquisition of the player, and Brendan Rodgers will be hopeful his relationship with Jose Mourinho could result in Hazard moving to Anfield.
Hazard could be available at a decent price, too, with the youngster reportedly valued at around £6 million by Chelsea, for who he has not made a senior appearance since moving to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2012.
